Failure of core networking switch results in outage issues for customers on August 26th and 27th.

On Tuesday 26th August around 12pm, a core network switch started to fail intermittently. This resulted in outages and loss of internet connections for customers on our network.

Dreamtilt identified the issues and implemented a fix by around 2pm that resolved most of the issues, however the switch needed to be changed urgently on Wednesday. This was completed around 12pm the next day, however this resulted in a brief outag that also affected customers.

We apologise for the issues, and implemented a fix as soon as possible to resolve the issues.

We will monitor the new switch and there is some further work to be done this week to resolve other smaller issues as a result of the failure as well as ensuring there is a longer term fix to also resolve network configuration issues and ensure stability for future such events.

With every failure, Dreamtilt reviews the issues and then implements improvements to make sure the network remains as reliable as possible, and ensure that if a failure does occur, we respond and rectify as soon as possible.
