6Ghz Automatic Frequency Coordination trials begin in Benaraby
An exciting trial has begun in Benaraby this month that will change the way broadband is delivered in Australia if successful.
Dreamtilt is the first WISP in Australia to have a trial approved by the ACMA to deliver broadband on both 5Ghz and 6Ghz frequencies using Automatic Frequency Coordination.
In Australia, the ability to use 6Ghz frequency is limited, however as part of this trial Dreamtilt, together with WISPAU, Cambium Networks and Qualcomm are testing and delivering higher speed services across 6Ghz without impacting on existing 6Ghz links already in place. This is important as the usage of 6Ghz cannot interfere with existing radio links, and this is the purpose of AFC.
All in all, what this means is the ability for WISPs (like Dreamtilt) to deliver faster and reliable services to customers in remote and regional areas.
We are excited to lead this trial, the first of its kind in Australia, and to report back on the effectiveness of AFC in Australian conditions.
Exciting times ahead!
