What is Dreamtilt SpamAssassin and how does it work?
SpamAssassin is a mail filter that attempts to identify SPAM using text analysis and several Internet-based real-time blacklists. SpamAssassin uses a wide range of tests on mail headers and message text to identify SPAM, which is also known as unsolicited, unwanted or undesirable email. Once identified, the mail is then tagged as SPAM for later filtering by the customer's own email program.
What happens to tagged SPAM?
The first thing SpamAssassin does is to add *SPAM* to the "Subject" line of the message. It then inserts tags into the message header that enables email programs to identify and filter according to your preferences. SpamAssassin also adds a results report into the message body, followed by the original message. SpamAssassin simply scans, tags and passes them along to your mailbox. The filters you add to your email program or in DreamMail ultimately decide what happens next.
How does SpamAssassin affect my email privacy?
Dreamtilt places a high degree of importance on customer privacy and assure you that SpamAssassin simply scans the body of each email once and makes its rating without storing any of your private information. It is an automated program without human intervention, so your email privacy is not violated in any way.
